  11. I'm new to programming in C++.  Actually I don't even know C.  I would 
  12. like to learn how to program C++ and was wondering what some people think 
  13. are good books for the beginner.  I have a fairly fast learning curve but 
  14. I need somehwere to start.

  16. I have Microsoft Visual C++ (Standard Ed) Ver 1.0.  Is this a good tool to 
  17. start programming C++.  I want to write Windows applications so I assume 
  18. so.  Are there any freeware or shareware editors/compilers for C++ to 
  19. develop DOS applications.

  21. I sure would appreciate any advice on this subject.
